Peru Radio Mission:
Radio Rosa de Saron

God's saving grace is being broadcast to the people of Peru through godly teaching and Christian music onboth of the Rose of Sharon Radio Stations  24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  When we visit Peru, the people tell us how much they appreciate the radio station and the generosity of Americans, and almost weekly we get reports of people who have received Christ as their Savior while listening.   Our original station is located in Yurimaguas and just this past year, we built a second radio station in Picota, Peru which will broadcast in a 100 mile radius of the station across the Amazon valley.

Radios are the “portable missionaries” because they can reach every place.

Jose's day as director of the radio station begins before dawn when his transmitter kicks on at 5 am and starts broadcasting programs to the rural residents beginning their day.The farmers outside of town requested the pre-dawn broadcasts and carry small portable radios with them all day to listen to Radio Rosa de Saron. Many times during his day he is interrupted by people bringing in announcements to be broadcast. And it often doesn’t end until well into the evening as he sits in the yard by the radio station counseling people who come by seeking help after hearing a program on the radio.

Jose has also been reaching out in the community with great success. He has established regular Bible studies on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sundays and they have a Sunday school class for children that is growing quickly.  As such, there is a huge need to build a chapel in order to accommodate the many new people who the Lord is bringing.

Jose knows the needs of this community.“We are like people everywhere, we have alcoholism, crime, thievery, marital infidelity, poverty, unemployment” he said.“But most of all, our people have spiritual needs.”

Jose knows the impact that Christian radio has on his community.“Using the radio is profound.People may be in church for two hours a week, but they have the radio with them all day”, he explained.“Also, illiteracy is a big issue here and radios are the ‘portable missionaries’ because they can reach every place and can minister to those who cannot read. They also reach those places that do not have churches.”

By the grace of God, the Voice of the Rose of Sharon has gained an enormous audience. We thank each one of you for your continued prayers and support for this very important work of faith.May God bless you richly.

Mission Trip

May 2016

We were able to make another mission trip to various cities in Peru this May and our Creator was pleased to bless and open even more new doors of opportunity.

The ministry of the mission radio Voice of the Rose of Sharon continues to bless the lives of thousands of people each day.  The TV ministry is reaching out to tens of thousands of homes and continues to grow stronger and stronger, with another TV channel in another province that has also begun broadcasting our programs.  It is so wonderful to see God bless so many people through this medium.  Many of the local churches have witnessed growth and have increased in size tremendously.

We were also able to add two more new local church congregations as a result of this in two different areas.  One was on the land we had purchased several years ago and the other is where the mission radio station is located.  People started to come and visit the radio station, they asked if there could be a local congregation set up for them to attend on a regular basis, and this is how it all began.  God is so good.

New Opportunities on TV  in Peru!

August 2014

I have just returned from my most recent mission trip to the heart of the Amazon Valley in Peru.  As an answer to many prayers, God was pleased to open great doors of ministry and blessed His Word as He promised it would accomplish precisely what He purposed it to produce.  We thank you for your continued prayers for this work of faith.

The work in Peru has grown abundantly and the people that the Lord has sent to us are spreading the word.  One of our missions workers said that it has even spread to the neighboring countries of Brazil and Columbia.  We have received invitations from other churches in those countries that are wanting us to share God's Word in their cities.

The Colombian river city of Leticia and another city in Brazil across the Amazon River from the city of Leticia are the cities where several churches want us to have a Bible conference and have extended an invitation to minister in their cities.  The trip is about an eight (8) hour boat ride from Iquitos on the Amazon River.  From there the Peruvian pastor informed me that there is also a very large church in Bogota, Colombia that also wants us to minister God's Word there as well in bringing much needed understanding on what God's Word has to say about the family.

Our Lord Jesus continues to increase the outreach of our mission work, as we were used of God to initiate the very first TV broadcast in the providence of San Martin, which has a viewing audience of one million people! A local cable channel owner granted us TOTALLY FREE ACCESS TO ONE OF HIS CABLE CHANNELS!

The people in the area have been so blessed with our Bible teaching that they have requested us to send them DVD's that they can use to fill the 24 hour a day - 7 days a week access to the TV airwaves.  Wow!  We never dreamed seven years ago when God called us to Peru that He had so many wonderful projects for us to fulfill.

Now we need to purchase some video recording equipment that will cost about $3,000.  This will not be anything fancy.  Simple recording equipment that will get the job done.  What a wonderful way to share in something like this and know that you will be having a continuing part in reaching tens of thousands of people every day.  Perhaps God is speaking to some of you to have a special part in this work.

Would you consider becoming a part of this important work in the Amazon Valley?  Support of these radio stations and Bible study materials costs about $900 a month.  Please pray about contributing to this need.  Continue to pray for both Rose of Sharon Radio Stations in the Amazon Valley of Peru and all of its workers and listeners.

Dear Bro. John Barela,

We greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Our fervent prayers for you is that you will receive the richest blessings of our God.These past few months, we have seen God’s hand with the listening audience of the Voice of the Rose of Sharon.

We have been diligently improving the radio station and our apartment in the building. We do something every day and many of our neighbors are very happy for us.We have also built a very small place to meet with the children who come to be taught about Jesus and the Word of God.Even some of the parents have started to come and have been very eager to learn. We now have about 15 adults and 20 children. Our Lord has been so faithful to us and His work here.

This past month, we traveled to Picota to bring the radio console you brought when you were here last time.No one has been able to bring it to us since that time. The clock timer we have been using stopped working and we are in need of another one.

Pastor John, we beg of you and your friends to pray for the many needs we now have for Bible teaching materials for the adults and children that have been coming. We have no Sunday School material whatsoever, and need some very badly. We have just been reading the Bible and teaching what we know. We want to know more. Please pray with us for this precious work among the many children, and now also for the parents who have also started to come. There is no place here where we can find any Sunday School materials.

We also request for you and your many friends to ask our Lord to open the hearts of the children and adults to understand the precious teaching they are receiving. Please continue to pray for the people who are learning what it REALLY means to be a Christian. They need your prayers just as I do.

We are hoping that you will be able to visit us again soon Bro. John. The place we have been meeting here is so small and we are beginning to have many people attend our services. We are in great need of a chapel where they can worship God and keep learning more about Him.We have told the people that you are praying with us that God will make this possible. Please receive my big hug in Jesus.

Our prayer for you is that our Lord Jesus will bless you,

Please let us know if you would like to be a vital part of these efforts. We love hearing from you and are thankful for everyone's prayers and support.
